Lewis Capaldi, the UK chart-topper, thanked the Glastonbury audience for assisting him through his final act after battling Tourette’s disease.

“I really apologize. You’ve all come out and my voice is really packing in,” he said. “We’re gonna play two more songs if that’s cool, even if I can’t hit all the notes.”

Capaldi was a Saturday headliner on the Pyramid Stage at the Festival, where he delivered a succession of favourites but was forced to cut his act short due to vocal issues.

Lewis Capaldi apologizes

His final song was his biggest hit, Someone You Loved, but when his voice faltered, the massive audience took over.

“The crowd holding Lewis Capaldi aloft as his tics overwhelmed him is massive, so important.” Really lovely. Nobody would have guessed that just a few years ago, would they? This love, caring, kindness, and understanding is really important. Despite everything, we keep moving forward.”

Capaldi, who had taken a break to rest and prepare for Glastonbury, announced afterwards that he intends to take the rest of the year off to recover from his mental health issues.

“I recently took three weeks off just because I have been non-stop since the beginning of the year and I needed a wee break for my head and my mental health,” he explained.

Lewis Capaldi encountered an unexpected obstacle this weekend at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival when he lost his voice during an emotional performance.

Thanked them for their support

Despite the setback, the musician, noted for his soulful delivery, persevered as fans cheered and assisted him in finishing the final song of his rousing one-hour concert. The Scottish singer apologised repeatedly to the audience and thanked them for their support.
